New Principal Entry Plan

"Learning Bancroft through the experiences of others."

The first 30 days are all about listening and learning. My goal is to begin
understanding who we are as a school, what we do, and what makes Bancroft such a special place. Each conversation, classroom visit, and observation helps me see Bancroft through your eyes. This first month is about building relationships with students and staff and getting to know the rhythm and heartbeat of our school community.

What I won't do

What I will do

Observe Learning Live

How: Gain insight with every visit to every classroom.

Gains:  Experience the thoughtful exchanges between teacher, student, and aides and the magic that happens with learning at Bancroft.

Develop Staff Relationships

How: Semi-structured 1:1 chats with Bancroft staff and faculty.

Gains: Stories, lived experiences, and perspectives on the amazing work that
happens at Bancroft every day.

Experience the Process

How: Actively observe key times of day including lunches, recesses, arrival, dismissal, and meetings.

Gains: Understand the processes, procedures, and people who are the
daily heartbeat of Bancroft.

As I'm getting to know our school family, I want to ensure that I spend time learning how we connect with our broader community. I want to learn about our partnerships, hear from our families, and discover how Bancroft fits into the larger Kennett Consolidated School District and the Kennett community.

How: Meet with various Bancroft staff and faculty members in a small group
format.
Gains: Additional insight to help me identify potential areas of strengths
and opportunities.

Engage Families

How: Meet with parents, PTO members, and attend local events.
Gains: Learn what our community values and is seeking to strengthen.
Attending community events will further my understanding of the KCSD
community.

Explore Partnerships

How: Connect with our existing and potential community partners.
Gains: Seek to align community resources, connections, and potential
partnerships to our building and district plans.

At the end of 90 days, we'll identify our strengths, acknowledge our
challenges, and recognize our growth opportunities. We will be positioned to
explore existing relationships to continue a trajectory of success at Bancroft. I
am excited to celebrate a productive past and explore our exciting future.

30 Days

What I did

• visit every classroom to interact with our students and to be part of the learning experience.
• learn the names and faces of our staff as they are the ones who make magic happen each day here at Bancroft.
• eat lunch with our students and be present during arrival, dismissal, and recess.
• analyze current and past data to understand our strengths.
• ask teachers and staff what is working well and what should be protected.

60 Days

What I did

• host opportunities for parents to share their hopes for Bancroft’s future.
• use times such as pickup and drop-off to talk to families about their child and to build relationships.
• attend PTO meetings and school events to understand our traditions.
• better understand the Bancroft and KCSD community by attending local community events.
• connect with community partners who explore ways we support our students and families.

90 Days

• Make connections
• Highlight strengths and identify opportunities
• Share insights

We will

• share what I've discovered about our school's strengths and opportunities with the entire Bancroft school community .
• examine ways we can celebrate our students and staff.
• establish a communication system where families feel informed and trust that their voice is heard.
• use what has been discovered through this process as the starting point for future planning.
• continue to remain committed to doing what is best for our students!
