This week the students in C6 have been learning about the different holidays celebrated around the world. We spent time learning about Kwanza and the Kinara. Kwanza is based on seven principles, many of them we celebrate in our classroom daily, like umoja (unity) and kuumba (creativity). We also learned about the history of La Posada, the Christmas tree and poinsettias. We had a chance to share the different traditions that our families have during the holiday season and celebrate the uniqueness and diversity within our classroom!
For the month of December, Miss Mancini’s class is learning about countries all around the world! We had a guest presenter on Zoom who shared about Italy. We made our own pizza’s as part of our cooking group. Students are collecting facts about each place we “visit” and creating a craft or activity from each country. Students are loving decorating the halls with our “artifacts” from our trip around the world!
Dear Parents and Families:
We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our Bancroft PTO, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.
After missing out on many beloved traditions, our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from November 18th-23rd in the Bancroft Multi-Purpose Room.
The flyer is only a small sampling of the books available at the Fair. Classes will visit the Fair during one of the school days. If you would like your child to purchase books during this time, please send money on their scheduled day. 6% tax will be collected on every purchase.
Our Book Fair offers a cash-free payment option called eWallet. It’s a convenient digital account that your child can use for shopping at our Fair. Grandparents, friends, and others can contribute, too!
Shopping online at our school’s Virtual Book Fair is also available from November 18, 2021-December 1, 2021. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/bancroftelementaryfall2021 We’re excited to celebrate our love of books together at the Book Fair. We look forward to seeing your child there!

D5 has been working on writing using descriptive language! We turned into realtors and had the daunting task of selling a Haunted House. The author’s chose rooms in their haunted house to write about using sensory details, and spook-tacular descriptive words.
