Bancroft Elementary School’s Green Thumb Club, led by Mrs. Gretchen Peterson, has been busy this spring planting seeds and vegetable seedlings in the school’s raised garden beds. All of the produce grown is donated to the Kennett Food Cupboard, and the first harvest added up to more than 14 pounds of greens!
Members of the Green Thumb Club have also been learning about the importance of planting native wildflowers. They have planted and taken home native wildflowers such as rose milkweed, New England aster, and baptisia. The students have even planted native wildflowers for families to take home from the Family STEM Night on June 6th.
