Bancroft Elementary School’s students and staff celebrated the end of the 2016-2017 school year with an afternoon ‘morning’ meeting on Friday, June 9, 2017. Everyone had a great time singing the school’s song, watching their friends perform dance routines or read poems, listening to Principal Mrs. Leah McComsey read several fifth grade students’ Bancroft Proud essays, and watching the “End of the Year” movie and ‘What Bancroft Principal, Staff, and Teachers Do Over The Summer” movie. To view the movies, click on the movies link below. It was a fantastic way to end a wonderful 2016-2017 school year at Bancroft Elementary School. Everyone left Bancroft Proud!
2016-2017 Book Poster Contest Winners
In May, students had the opportunity to enter a Literary Book Poster Contest. Students chose their favorite library book read this school year and created a poster about the book’s characters, setting, problem, and solution, and provided a short summary of the book. Then, students could be as creative as they wanted. Each grade level was judged by a three judge panel and awarded first, second, and third place ribbons. Posters were on display in our library media center for several weeks. The blue ribbon winners are pictured below.
2016-2017 Read for the Gold Winners
As the 2016-2017 school year ended, Bancroft Elementary School students were still diligently reading and taking Accelerated Reader (AR) Comprehension Quizzes. Each book has a quiz worth varying points depending on the difficulty of the book, and the students knew that they still had time to win the trophy for top class and top student for each grade level. It was an exciting year of reading and our top class and student per grade level are featured above. Please join me, Mr. David Livergood, Bancroft Elementary School’s library media specialist and AR coordinator, in congratulating these diligent and intensely committed readers for a job well done!
